Q852 - false FPGA temperature warnings

Information about high FPGA temperature warnings on Q852.

We have discovered an issue where the engine temperature reporting can trigger a false high temperature warning. The maximum rated operating temperature of the engine FPGAs is 105 deg C with a normal operating range between 60 and 80 deg C.

FPGA high temperature warning:

Error message: "An engine FPGA temperature is getting too high"

The warnings below are set to come in at 90 deg C and at 99 deg C.

Sometimes both warnings are triggered at once because the reported temperature jumps up and triggers both warnings simultaneously. This is another indication that the warning is a false positive and can be ignored.

If the values of the individual FPGAs shown on the left hand side of the engine diagnostics are normal and the temperature of the FPGA which reports a high temperature returns to normal within a few seconds, then this error can be ignored. It is a diagnostics error present in the software and will be fixed in an upcoming release.
